Changelog (2025)
2025-09-09π
- Developer/API Changes
- Feature There is now a WebAssembly Component Model-based plugin system. Plugins file names must end in ".wasm" and there is no requirement that plugins be written in Rust. Plugins are automatically discovered when instantiating node instances. Built in plugins are located at
staticfs://plugins/ and include WebAssembly Interface Types (WIT) files to generate bindings. Both nodes and plugins may reference other plugins for functionality.
- Feature
markdown Added a wasm plugin for Markdown parsing / html generation.
- Feature
math Added a wasm plugin for some machine learning functions based on linfa, ndarray, and nalgebra.
- Feature
arrow Added a wasm plugin for Arrow RecordBatch and DataFusion functionality.
- Nodes are also now implemented as WebAssembly Components.
2025-09-08π
- Feature The Graph applet now supports exporting a Graph file/bundle directly to the desktop, and loading a Graph file/bundle directly from the desktop in the "Create or Open Graph" popup.
- Feature The Plotter Node and the Report Generator Node now generate artifacts that can be exported directly from the Manage/Files tab, simplifying sharing charts and reports outside of DataCogs.
- Minor Enhancements
- Improved app and documentation style for narrow screens/windows
- Graph file list performance improvements

- π¨ Breaking Changes
- Underlying Worksheet format has changed in order to support Decimal data type
- Feature Nodes now have a Files tab that enables exporting files generated by a node from the graph to either the DataCogs virtual file system or to the OS.
- Feature Worksheets now support the Decimal data type, which is useful in financial calculations. the
d(..) function declares a Decimal number, and can take a string or numeric type. =d("0.1")+d("0.2") correctly results in 0.3. Mathematical operations on Decimal numbers will sometimes automatically covert other numeric types to Decimal, but will never automatically convert a Decimal number into a less precise type. In practice this means =d("0.1") + 0.2 will convert the 0.2 floating point number to Decimal and result in 0.3, but =0.1 + d("0.2") will result in an error.
- Updated Worksheet documentation to include Decimal type.

2025-08-24π
- Feature Graph Applet - Notes now support different colors
- Feature Worksheet Node - Now displays a visual indicator for all output windows directly on the sheet.
- Bug Fix Graph Applet - Fixed issue where saving a graph file over a previously created file would sometimes cause errors on loading the graph.
- Bug Fix Worksheet Node - Fixed some off-by-one issues with output windows.
- Bug Fix Graph Applet - Disallow closing panel while saving (so that data files aren't removed before save is complete)
- Minor Enhancements:
- Graph Applet - Allow text selection in node management tabs
2025-08-23π
- Feature Graph Applet - Graph files and templates now support embedding data in the graph file. This will simplify storing and sharing node artifacts such as models and worksheets.

- Minor Enhancements:
- File Browser - Added support for hidden folders/files
- File Browser - Added file last modified timestamps
- Graph Applet - Now shows a confirmation panel when closing graph that hasn't been saved.
2025-08-17π
- Minor Enhancements:
- Summary Statistics node now displays results directly on the node
2025-08-16π
- Feature Graph Applet - Added basic support for touch screens and small screens. It's not quite enough to build graphs, but it's sufficient for running examples from the templates screen.
- Bug Fix Menu bar now scrolls horizontally when overflowed (for small screen support).
2025-08-15π
- Feature Graph Applet - Added the ability to create and save Templates
- Feature Graph Applet - When opening a blank graph, defaults to show a list of available Templates
- Feature Graph Applet - Created a couple example templates
2025-08-14π
- Feature Graph Applet - Added Insert Note capability to add Markdown notes directly to a graph.
- Bug Fix Graph Applet - Fixed issue where dropping files onto the graph did not place the resulting nodes in the correct (dropped) location.
- Bug Fix Worksheet Node - Fixed issu where text in the selected node sometimes overflowed above the scrollable area.
2025-08-11π
- New Node: Write to CSV
- New Node: Read JSON
- Write File node now supports saving JSON data
